  1. Helping Strays of Monroe County at Oakville

    Helping Strays of Monroe County at Oakville

    On Saturday, June 24, from 10 am to 2 pm, we will be welcoming back Helping Strays of Monroe County, to our Oakville shop. Adopting a companion pet from Helping Strays can change your life! And it will save theirs!

    {Oakville shop, 5626 Telegraph, 314-845-2000}

    Pictured is Reba! Reba, who is almost 2 years old, was rescued by Helping Strays from St. Clair Animal Control on her very last day. Thank goodness! She's a beautiful, happy and loving girl. Reba is in a foster home where she is all about being with 'her person'. She is excellent in the house, no chewing or accidents. Reba will snuggle up wherever you are and have not a care in the world.

    She does have some special needs, however. Reba is extremely selective when it comes to her tolerance for other dogs. In her foster home, she does well with a 3 yr. old male German Shepherd and a 4 yr. male old Cattle Dog mix. She is not a dog who could ever go to a dog park or social event with other dogs she doesn't know. Reba would do best with an easy going male dog or by herself. She would do well in a home where she would not have to deal with other people's dogs, e.g., not in an apartment building or a home with a shared fence line with other dogs in a neighboring yard. If you would like to meet Reba and can provide a safe haven for her, we will arrange for her foster family to meet with you.

    This organization is doing great things; stop by and meet them and their fabulous pets available for adoption! Visit their website for more info.

    Meet beautiful Paprika! Paprika is a very pretty little girl, totally sweet that went thru a rough spot but is doing well now and looking for a home to call her own. She came from a pound, and was pulled to safety by rescue.

    Paprika is laid back and mellow and doesn't ask for much - just likes to hang out with you and be her beautiful self. She likes petting, loves her wet food, and is content to lounge and watch the world go by. This gentle girl is going to do best in a quieter home. She seems to be indifferent to other dogs and cats. She enjoys her petting time but does not need constant attention, she will let you know when she is done.

    Mutts n Stuff is a non-profit, pit bull rescue organization located in the St. Louis area. Their primary mission is to identify temperamentally sound pit bulls in local shelters, relocate them to loving foster homes where they receive training, and ultimately place them in responsible forever homes. Pictured is Natalie - here is her story ...
    "Hey there! If you could see me, you would see my whole booty is wagging because I LOVE people. When I meet someone my whole body becomes a magnet and I am thrown into their lap to offer kisses and accept belly rubs. I have so many friends, because nobody is a stranger to me. I am a very bouncy happy girl, however I sure love snuggling up for a nap next to my human. Speaking of, I am looking for my forever family. I have a great foster family with a doggy brother. We love to play chase, keep away and tug of war while running around in the backyard. My foster mom says she's going to be sad with I get adopted, but she said she will find me the best family. Could that be you? Fill out an application and see my wiggle butt!"

    Natalie is full of love and life. She radiates energy during play time, but she settles down nicely to snuggle on the couch. She will gladly go to 'her house' (crate) to chew on a bone or enjoy a peanut butter Kong before a long nap. Natalie is a year old, so she is full of puppy curiosity and zeal for life but passed the potty and chewing issues. Her family will need to enjoy getting doggy kisses and giving belly rubs. Her giant ears, big brown spots, eye patch and pink nose are irresistible. At 40 pounds, she is a petite little pittie who is waiting to find the right lap to curl up on. She is the perfect pup to accompany you on all of life's journeys. She will surely bring daily smiles and a lifetime of happy memories to her forever family.
