In 2001, Ian and I moved back to St. Louis after living in New York City, where we had grown accustomed to serving high-quality, all-natural pet food to their two dachshunds, Max and Mickey. It wasn’t long before we found a lack of options for nutritious pet food and treats and no alternatives to the “big box” stores for pet supplies. This realization sparked the initial concept and vision for Treats Unleashed, a specialty business that would provide all-natural solutions, high-quality supplies and one-of-a-kind accessories to the pets in our community and their parents.
In 2002, Ian and I along with my sister, Gayle, opened a small kiosk in the Galleria shopping center to test our concept of all-natural, fresh-baked treats and high-quality supplies. Delighted with a positive reception from customers, we opened a second kiosk in the West County Mall, and started looking for the right retail location to launch our store…and the rest is history!
Today, Treats Unleashed is a thriving company with more than 45 employees, seven retail locations and an active wholesale treat business. We wholeheartedly attributes our steady success to the personal relationships we built within each of our communities of pet lovers and rescue groups.
With a dedicated, caring and knowledgeable staff, Treats Unleashed continues to differentiate itself as a comfortable, memorable and fun place for pets and their parents to congregate and connect with one another. Offering a ‘community within a community’ experience, our team calls customers and their pets by name, makes thoughtful suggestions of new items to try and always strives to make the experience special.
In the community
In addition to hosting in-store meet & greets with a variety of rescue groups, each month we spotlight an organization that is making a positive impact both in our community and in the lives of area animals. Between our in-store events and Treat-of-the-Month treats, we’ve donated over $50,000 to area non-profit organizations!
